Lifeboat mans Royal Appointment
Minehead Lifeboat volunteer Helmsman
Paul Marsh received a very special invitation through the post
recently when he was invited to Her Majesty the Queen’s garden party
at Buckingham Palace.
Paul 47, who juggles
his busy career as Tea Taster for Miles Tea in Minehead has given over
23 years service both as a volunteer Crew Member and Helmsman
confessed to being surprised but absolutely delighted to be invited to
attend the garden party on Tuesday 10th July.
Paul commented “I
have no idea who nominated me for the garden party but I feel
privileged to have been asked”. The invitation is even more special
as Paul’s wife Denise will also be joining him at Buckingham Palace.
Paul added “like all
of the emergency services we can be called out any time of day or
night and it is our long suffering partners who often have their plans
ruined. This is as much a day for Denise as it is for me”
Fire Training
In May 2006 the
crew carried out their basic fire awareness training, the training
carried out by 'Three Ways Fire Prevention Services Ltd"
involved a lecture followed by a practical session in the use of
different types of extinguishers. Below are some photos of the
session.
